Final Animation Evaluation
For my final animation I chose to do drawn animation. I chose this type of animation because I found it easier and less tedious that cut-out animation and claymation because with cut-out animation I was really slothful to look for different kinds of magazines and cut out bits and bobs for my animation. Claymation I really didn't enjoy because if the figure of the character isn't made properly, it falls over a good amount of times. Trying to move the figure frame by frame is really tedious too because if it isn't lined up properly it won't really be as smooth as expected. I prefer drawn animation over the other two animations because I am decent at drawing and I have a pretty good imagination. Even though drawing it took up too almost 4 hours, trying to perfect my animation frame by frame, it all paid off in the end.
I made two characters; a little girl and a pillow monster. The pillow monster and the little girl at first did not know each other so they were just going along their business and the little girl saw the monster and thought it was gonna eat her, so she fainted and the monster picked her up and tried to eat her hair but she didn't really taste good so the girl woke up and in the end they became really good friends.
What i'm proud about with my work is that it turned out to be better than I expected and the flow of the animation is really smooth since my work was scanned to Adobe After Effects so I editted most of it there.
What I need to improve next time is the time duration of my animation, I feel as though that my animation is too short and not that colorful.

Drawn animation is one of the most popular type of animation and was used many times in the early days of animation. The reason why drawn animation is used most of the time because it is fairly cheap comparing it to plasticine clay for claymation, all you need is drawing pads, paper and pencils. If you have good imagination and have decent skills in basic drawing it would be easier for you to plan out what you are going to animate. It can be about anything you can think of and the laws of physics don’t apply so you can make things happen that you couldn't do with other types of animation.
Drawn animation however does have some draw backs. It is really time consuming depending on what you are trying to animate especially if it is highly detailed because each frame has to be drawn separately which could end up in using over a hundred pieces of paper depending on the animation. The process of animating can be very tedious too as you have to make sure each frame lines up with the previous frame so that it is almost perfectly in place. If you are doing a colored animation, it would be best to color it in with a photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or if you are blessed enough to own a drawing tablet then life would be so much easier.

Clay animations are one of the many forms of stop motion animation. The animated pieces used, either it being the character or background, are able to be molded by the animator into any shape the animator chooses. Plasticine clay is usually used because it is made of a malleable substance.
To start creating a Claymation animation , you need to start molding the Plasticine clay into the character of your desire but it’s better to start with something called a Morph. A Morph is an animated Plasticine stop-motion character that has similarities to a human. To do this take so of your Plasticine clay and for a sphere with it, then begin to mold the ball into a cylindrical shape, this first piece will be used as the upper body or torso of your morph. From there you start to mold the head by trying to round off the top, take note that it is important to mold the whole body in one single piece so that your morph will be stable. For the arms and legs begin to stretch out the Plasticine about half an inch from the body, make sure that the arms and legs are of decent length so that your Morph will be able to stand up properly.
Three Movies and Three TV Shows that used Claymation to produce the full product are:
Movies:
Chicken Run
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Wallace and Gromit
TV Shows:
Pingu
Shaun the Sheep
Robot Chicken
Now I’ll be discussing the strengths and weaknesses of using Claymation.
The strengths and advantages of using clay models for instance they can be made to scale for example a small clay model can be used where filming space is limited for example a cityscape set where tall building can be just a meter high.
The weaknesses and disadvantages of using clay models fine movement is hard to achieve unless the model is made with ball joints. They also require high maintenance depending to the heat of the lighting because it dries them out.
The Claymation animation I did was about two morphs playing tug of war. One of the problems I had with this project was that the Plasticine clay rope kept cutting in half so it was a tedious job, the editing wasn't so hard because i've had experience with these kinds of editing software.
